Obits for Web 2.0
So, it seems everyone is writing obits for Web 2.0. If so, what’s next? Heck if I know, I was just getting comfortable with the phrase. Now it seems that there is more talk about digital media and media strategy.
For my part, I am interested in a unique idea that I do believe my daughter, Veronica Spolarich, came up with. She is a student at Washington College. Before she left for college, she and three friend started a VLOG project. Each of them takes a different day of the week and does a video blog, or Vlog. The project has its own channel on YouTube and is called http://www.youtube.com/user/TheCollegeVlogProj. You should check it out. The participants challenge each other to do interesting things, like bake muffins and leave them on a neighbor’s doorstep, ring the bell and run away. They video the whole thing. Recently they vlogged about how ‘scary’ the internet was, going into chat rooms under assumed names and lowering their ages to 15 or so. You should see their expressions when they get replies from men like ‘lovesyounggirlsUK’. It’s funny but also a cautionary tale, yet THEY know that. Your comments?
